When custom is the right answer
Custom software is not automatically better than buying something. It is better when the way you work is a competitive advantage, when off-the-shelf tools force expensive workarounds, or when you are paying per-seat licences for software you use 20% of.
It is the wrong answer when a well-established product already does the job. We will tell you when that is the case, including when it means a smaller project for us.
The signs you have outgrown what you have
- Critical processes run on a spreadsheet that one person understands.
- Staff re-key the same data into two or three systems.
- Reporting means exporting to Excel and reconciling by hand.
- Your process has been bent to fit the software rather than the reverse.
- Licence costs are rising faster than the value you get from them.
How we build
- Discovery. We sit with the people who do the work, not only the people who commissioned the project. The gap between the documented process and the real one is where most requirements hide.
- Domain modelling. Entities, relationships, states and permissions worked out before any screen is designed, because this is the expensive thing to change later.
- Phased delivery. The highest-value slice first, in production and being used, then extended. You see working software in weeks, not at the end.
- Integration. Connecting to the accounting, ERP, CRM and logistics systems you already run, with reconciliation so silent divergence is caught.
- Handover. Documentation, admin training, and source code and infrastructure in your name.
Built to be maintained
Most of a system's cost comes after launch, so we build for that: automated tests on the rules that matter, a staging environment, migrations for every schema change, structured logging, and an architecture a new developer can navigate. You are not locked in — the code is yours, in your repository, and another team could pick it up.
